Learning Ally is committed to empowering the success of students who are dyslexic, blind, or visually impaired.  Our mission is to promote personal achievement when access and reading are barriers to learning by advancing the use of accessible and effective educational solutions.

Honoring Our National Student Award Winners

Mary P. Oenslager Scholastic Achievement Award
Since 1959 Learning Ally has recognized college students who are blind or visually impaired for their academic excellence, outstanding leadership, and service to others. The awards are given to a total of 9 students who are chosen by a selection committee. The top 3 winners are honored at the National Achievement Awards Gala.

Marian Huber Learning Through Listening Awards
In 1991 these became the first national awards presented to high school seniors with learning disabilities for their academic excellence, outstanding leadership, and service to others.  The awards are given to a total of six students who are chosen by a selection committee.  The top 3 winners are honored at the National Achievement Awards Gala.

Winslow Coyne Reitnouer Excellence in Teaching Award
Honors teachers on the leading edge of best practices that help students with print disabilities succeed in the mainstream classroom. It has been made possible by longtime Learning Ally friend and supporter Winnie Reitnouer, a champion for great teachers and success for all
students who learn differently.
